Gilles VRILLIAUX

Guitarist, multi-instrumentalist and sound designer originally from the suburbs of Paris, Gilles Vrilliaux took his first blues guitar lessons with Louis Bertignac of the legendary French band Téléphone. Through his sister, who was active in the entertainment industry during the 1980s, he was introduced to some of the capital’s leading studio musicians.

In 1992, he stumbled upon electronic music during a Laurent Garnier Wake up event at the Rex club, which opened a significant musical pathway for him then. Graduating in Jazz and Improvised Music from AIMRA in Lyon, Gilles has developed a musical universe ranging from world music and electro-jazz-funk to festive music, electronic cultures and experimental soundscapes.

Since settling in Lyon in 1995, he has spent more than twenty years performing on French and European stages with various Lyon-based bands, including Elektrogen, Blinks, Les Monstroplantes and Rivière/Lakaskad.

From Lyon’s clubs to major French and European festivals—including the Montreux Jazz Festival, the Festival d'Avignon, Nuits Sonores, Jazz a Vienne, Lott Festival and Manapany Festival.

Between his activities as a musician and DJ, he has now accumulated over 1,500 performances and has had the privilege of opening for internationally acclaimed artists such as Bonobo, IAM, Le Peuple de l'Herbe, Tiken Jah Fakoly, Julien Lourau, Luke Vibert, Youngblood Brass Band and Balkan Beat Box...

Performing under the name DJ Lakaskad, he has developed a musical identity strongly influenced by the UK scene. Passionate about drum & bass, Trip Hop and bass music in all its forms, he crafts energetic DJ sets where organic grooves, electronic rhythms and deep basslines merge into a distinctive sonic experience.

His electronic and jazz-oriented performances, often enhanced by live improvising musicians, have become one of his most recognizable artistic signatures.

In 2020, he launched The Bass Buddies Show, a music streaming project "under medical supervision :)", dedicated to bass culture and alternative electronic music.

As a composer and sound designer for advertising and short films, he collaborates with creative agencies and production companies such as Artstep and Upscale. Working for major international brands such as  EDF, Peugeot, Red Bull, Palladium, K-swiss, Seb, Mauviel, Ride the World, la demeure du chaos... He brings a versatile skill set to every stage of the audiovisual production process, from sound creation and composition to final mixing.

In 2023, he created iinna Blue Frequency, a music therapy and sonic exploration project focused on the use of sacred frequencies, vibrational textures, and immersive soundscapes dedicated to well-being. At the crossroads of intuitive music, guided meditation, and binaural beats, his creations combine ambient layers, deep bass, and subtle resonances to promote relaxation, emotional regulation, and bodily grounding. Inspired both by contemporary approaches to sound therapy and meditative traditions, i

inna Blue Frequencies offers an immersive listening experience where music becomes an inner space, conducive to letting go and reconnecting with oneself.

Drawing on a career that bridges live performance, sound creation and musical curation, Gilles has developed an eclectic artistic approach where live music, audio technology and a passion for sharing and Cross-cultural music come together.
